The Dark Night of the Soul is a term popularized by St. John of the Cross and has been used by other mystics throughout history. It is a journey of the soul and a period where one has a collapsed perceived meaning in life. While going through a Dark Night of the Soul, we feel hopeless and view life as meaningless. Experiencing an internal death, we are forced to face our deepest shadow and can feel as though we have lost our own identity. We begin to drop all the false masks, conditioning and belief systems that are blocking us from stepping into our full power. Dark Night of the Soul is usually triggered by a traumatic event, such as the death of a loved one or separation from a soulmate. Many of the deep soul contracts we have made that trigger this initiation will serve as a catalyst for our deepest healing. The feeling of not wanting to die but having no desire to live is a common feeling during this period. Though intensely painful, it is necessary in order to come back into alignment with our soul.
During the Dark Night of the Soul, our energy levels drop and we even feel denser. This is because of our wombs, the repressed emotions, and condition beliefs are being brought to the surface. We dig deep to find the root of the problem so we can then heal it. (this is where shadow work comes into play)
At some point in our journey, we realize that we are no longer the victim and take back our power. When this happens we are then ready to transmute our darkness into light. This is the art of Mental Transumation, a form of mystic psychology that has been used by mystics and alchemists for centuries. We start working on clearing all of our chakras and balance both our feminine and masculine energy, which can possibly result in a Kundalini Awaking. As souls, we incarnate on earth to learn.
Earth from a soul’s perspective is the most transformational place to be. We view the earth as a dense place (in terms of energy right now it is) but without this, we would not be able to learn all these profound lessons. This is why you and your soul group have decided to come down to earth once again and by going through the Dark Night of the Soul, you are clearing major karma and doing profound healing work. Nearly every mystic, spiritual teacher and the heroes and heroines of mythology have reached their greatest epiphanies after going through their own Dark Night of the Soul.
Though it gets very dark and even lonely during the Dark Night of The Soul, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You are the architect of your own destiny.
"The dark night of the soul comes just before the revelation. When everything is lost, and all seems darkness, then comes the new life and all that is needed." - Joseph Campbell
